BEHIND THE WORKS ​ ​Well ask me to explain my works in this collection would be impossible I leave the explanation to the viewer alone. For me well I have achieved what I wanted to do I wanted to do I make a statement about masculinity and I think this is where we see tanks, battles, explosions we also see cowboy figures and people in long tall hats, God only knows why but is is clear that there is a code taking place here and playing around in a wild fashion which I love in my works. I hate and I avoid at any length to make my works too secretive in nature or narrative, with me my narrative is always clear. Art and Design re-visited, did it ever die. I know for me as a young graduate Fine art was an glorious influence in my Graphic's in the mid 80's, painting, paint, colour, structure, always had. Graphic's always danced to my tune and my tune alone not by demand, may I add but by the pure fact that I made no deferential opinion between fine art and Design there are those out there that no doubt will. I reckon I know and have some kind of bearing on where Art and Design lies on this fragile premise, its positions constantly being swapped ,miss placed and misunderstood. The problem is that I paint a picture, the picture ends up on a package, is it Graphics or fine art, the package could end up in a gallery, or on a supermarket shelve, what would you say. As for me, well, I really don't know where I am as my works stand, as a trained Graphic Designer with the world Famous Designers and Art Directors award under my belt I refuse to stand on either side of the wall, Fine Art, or Design. I do know that my works rely on the really world and not a client for creation but then for that equation my client is the real world so hence I am a Graphic Designer and have l lost the game, is it a game! My works are no doubtable heavily shrouded by characters, cartoon like structure and at times heavily sexualised, you judge. Or is it the case that I am the English Character, heavily sexualised with a cartoon like character, which ever, what ever you will Graphics is a love, fine Art a Passion to which both I serve equally. I show in London, Berlin and LA. I lived and worked in Germany for 11 years where I created some of my best collections.
