Afternoon Siesta Drawing

I lived in Vietnam for several years, this drawing was made on a very hot lazy afternoon on my terrace. Just after Tet, (lunar new year) when the weather changes and becomes unbearably hot, the best thing you can do is grab a chair or a hammock and take a siesta until the day cools down. The colors pay hommage to the abundant flora and fauna in southeast asia. I chose chalk pastel for this place because I think it gives a dreamy quality and I love how you can blend the colors.
