ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Working with a model in your own studio is entirely different than working from the model in a group setting. It is a private and extremely intimate moment. There is nothing quite like it. I like to capture moments in my drawings, moments that are quick like when the model is moving or changing poses. I want to have the viewer sense that something is happening, that it is real and plausible. Each one of these works of art is unique. There are no two alike. Each painting and drawing tells a story and is part of a larger more complex series of paintings and drawings. This mixed media drawing is done on acid-free 140lb Fabriano Studio watercolor paper. The drawing is created in graphite, Rapidograph Ultradraw ink and Liquitex Professional Acrylic Ink and Dr. Ph. Martin's watercolor inks and Windsor & Newton watercolors. The work is signed. I provide a certificate of authenticity.

Stewart Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years. His paintings, drawings and works on paper are part of several private international collections in over 20 countries and in 36 American States. Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts beyond the representational image. The great equalizer he believes is when one's clothing is removed. All identifiers and societal statuses disappear and the real person appears. Fletcher does not believe that his work is erotic, however some people do because of their social, religious and regional upbringing. He often uses humour and satire to convey his views on the world around him..
