About The Artwork
Indira (a name I gave to the emotion I was experiencing during the migrant labour crisis) lives in my head. The pencil tried drawing her out of my conscience, with each stroke of empathy, of trying to be humane. Indira is exhausted and hungry. She is angry with the world, hurt and confused on how her child will grow up in this new normal of apathy. The 1000-mile journey has begun for the likes of Indira, literally. And so has it for me towards becoming humane. I am inspired by the quick initiatives taken up by local communities, to reduce the suffering of the likes of Indira.
