A night scene in Dalston Junction. This busy crossroads had cinematic qualities which lept out. Reminiscent of an Edward Hopper composition, I wanted to capture the calm before the storm with this painting. The print is on 300gsm fine art gallery paper. Signed and numbered.

I have always lived and worked in London. The city is the main source of inspiration with London's grey, unsettling skies creating the perfect backdrop. I try and capture a certain sadness in the buildings I paint, drawing attention to parts of the city that are ignored on a daily basis. Above our heads are the shop fronts of crumbling and faded grandeur that most of us will pass by without a second glance. Concentrating on the city's decaying, unique architecture, capturing the singular beauty to be found in those neglected buildings that have fallen into disrepair as the living city continues to evolve around them. Desolate buildings, with their peeling paint, numberless front doors, and glimpses into empty rooms through uncurtained windows, naturally evoke a loneliness inherent in any large city. But their stillness also invites contemplation – of the lives once lived here, and the new lives that continue to do so. My work is held in both private and overseas collections.
