Suspended in darkened recycled wooden boxes the Beyond series of paintings and sketches, float above their environments. Stretched and abstracted forms, based on invented landscapes or imagined worlds of possibility. The infinite choices and potentials of life, underline the somewhat incidental approach to production. Chance setting each piece in motion, first in the finding of an appropriate box, and then the taking of a rubbing from one of it’s surfaces, to create a background. The foreground composed on the basis of the prominent background features which appear during the initial rubbing. Rarely are any of these found elements precise, little is down to mask their crooked forms. Apocaliptic, dystopian and messy in nature, the series counterpoints traditional objective landscape traditions in an often primal way. An often distorted view, inhabited by anthopermophic shapes finding their way through a broken landscape.

"I focus on the smaller picture, detail is an impulse, this has been so for as long as I remember. The texture of rock, wood or concrete, in the panorama. The sound of a distant something, glimpsed between the howl of the of the wind or the blast of traffic, has always been an inspiration. My work comes from the rubbings of floors, walls, paper, wood & stone, the scraping of paint, delicate cuts to wood, hands-on things that dry my skin, many of which are then manipulated digitally. Formed from a passion in experimentation, in dirt, dust and noise. From the other, the unexpected unruly anomaly being allowed to find it's way between the herald of the bigger picture." I have been creating visual works since around 2003, initially alongside music and later alongside writing and sculptural forms. Currently based in Berlin, many early works are lost to time and space in Bristol, London and Wales. Long form ambient music from my musical aliases, are available here: And here:
