About The Artwork

Welcome to my world! I live a quiet life in the countryside, but I create crowds on paper. I thought for a long time that I was agoraphobic, but I discovered that in fact, I am hypersensitive: thus the real crowds oppress and tire me because I absorb the energy of the people. It is not a problem if this energy is benevolent, it is much more complicated when people are stressed and aggressive. My work has many facets: I devoted myself exclusively to sculpture for 15 years since the early 90's (clay, stone, then bronze), and I practice drawing and painting and mixed media since 2007. More recently I also added the practice of etching. The techniques vary, but most of the time, the human remains at the center of my creations. My crowds are probably the most intimate parts of my job.

Isabelle Biquet was born in Belgium. She discovered modeling clay in the early 90s, and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Quickly, she turns to the size of stone and marble and devotes herself exclusively to it for about fifteen years. She then found the modeling by making her first bronze sculptures, and gradually abandoned the stone sculpture. From 2007 to 2013, she took the "pictorial drawing / writing" course at the Braine-l'Alleud Arts School: pencils, pastels, charcoal, acrylic paint, ink, ballpoint pen: Isabelle likes to vary the pleasures, but always keeps, since its beginnings, the human in the center of its creations. She also practices engraving since 2014, especially the "etching on Tetrapak". She participates in several exhibitions, collective and individual, mainly in Belgium and in Taiwan. She lives and works in Belgium.
