Breach, Palm Beach Drawing

Cubism was my earliest influence; when I became familiar with the Cubist works of Braque and Picasso, they inspired me to look at the world of form, and its depiction on the surface of a canvas or on paper, with 'new' eyes. This inspiration has fuelled my painting and drawing ever since. Simplification and reduction of what I 'see', releases me to pursue my own inner landscape. The landscape around the Northern Beaches of Sydney is marked by many bays, with headlands. Constant erosion has revealed rock strata millions of years old, and the ability to view this strata and its layered record of time record has captured my interest for many years.
