'Callisto' Original Artwork Drawing

Deeply inspired by science fiction and art illustration, this picture forms a series of four muses, taking the names of the four Galilean moons of Jupiter. Imagining each moon with it's own identity and character, Callisto is one of the most heavily cratered surfaces in the galaxy, and yet, retains an ethereal beauty. My Callisto is resolute, enchanting and calm. Her beauty comes from a place of strength This work was created in graphite, and soft shaded to create an alabaster-style texture. Unlike it's original namesake, Callisto, this original drawing has a smooth texture, with a strong contrast of light and dark. She is one of my favourite works so far, there is something in her fixed gaze that pulls you.
