ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Didn't I Tell You Ten Times? Karagöz's Wife Karagöz and Hacivat is a shadow play based on imitation and mutual conversation, played on the screen with two-dimensional depictions. Karagöz actor is called fictional, imaginary. Different opinions have been put forward about when the Karagöz shadow theater, which took its final form in the 17th century, came to Ottoman lands. The artist talks about the Karagöz Hacivat shadow plays he watched on television in his childhood. Curiosity about what lies behind the surface is an emotion every child feels. In the shadow plays, what kind of person was the woman who appeared from the window of Karagöz's house on the right, called out to Karagöz like a shadow with a tambourine sound, and scolded him from time to time? How did they spend time with Karagöz at home? Years later, he watched Ezel Akay's movie Why Karagöz and Hacivat Were Killed? In the film, the story took a completely different turn when the artist saw the shadow characters of his childhood as humans. In the movie where Karagöz's love is also discussed, the song "Didn't I tell you ten times, don't love me, nine lovers" gradually reduces the number of lovers from 10 to one, Didn't I tell you ten times? Don't love nine lovers, don't love nine lovers, joy in eight, fidelity in seven never ever do, never ever do. six and five can't handle four impenetrable, insurmountable, Leave three and two alone Until you become a lover, until you become a lover... (It is not clear who the song belongs to.) Again referring to Karagöz, and it is also explained that a single lover is the best. This also adds the interpretation of Sufism. Thus, the artist produced a work in which Karagöz, his only lover, connects with his wife in his subconscious and makes her visible rather than a shadow. Karagüöz's unknown home life and his only lover, Karagöz's wife.
