I am an artist and illustrator from Manchester, currently living on the south coast of England. I specialise in highly detailed, black and white, figurative pen and ink drawings with an urban and Gothic edge. I am entirely self-taught and have learned my skill through practising and experimenting for as long as I can remember. My work is characterised by a dark and atmospheric feel, and my style of drawing is influenced by the art and illustration of my childhood, particularly by the work of Japanese artists and illustrators. Growing up surrounded by the urban Gothic architecture of Manchester has also had a strong influence on the style and subject matter of my work, and each personal piece I work on I see as an illustration to an unwritten story. I have always favoured drawing for the detail it allows me to achieve. Starting each work of with a 0.05mm nib pen, I can capture the tiniest flicks and dots of expression in faces, and add hidden features in the drawing which take the viewer’s eye on a exploration through each piece. Working on this level of detail gives me huge satisfaction and pride in my work. Alongside working on commercial, personal and commissioned work, I also exhibit in the UK and sell my original personal works. My personal work is also available reproduced as limited edition Giclée prints. Each print is signed and numbered, and printed using archival inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm archival paper. With this process, the detail and character of the original work is beautifully captured in each fine art print. Please visit my website and Instagram page for more information about my finished work, work in progress and where I am currently exhibiting.
