Hard at work, Kristian Mumford has spent time capturing the essence of the model Eryn, as a beautiful modern day 'nymph' inhabiting the glades of an airport, a popular model amongst Canadians and a model Mumford has just drawn for the first time. Little is known of her. The flagship of mumfords drawings yet in 2012 and winning piece is; Eryn . Charcoal on Paper. "I thought, now heres a challenge, and i will just do it". "women like Eryn posing nude in visual art deserve a pat on the back for what they do - historically documented as undoubtably one of the worlds greatest inspirations to artists, especially working with unrequited love or the frenzie of excitement aswel as disdain that often follows of a naked woman. Unsatisfied with the flooded market of photographers and models, Eryn organizes her own Workshops for groups of 'practicing' artists to create as well as 'skilled' models to come to. "Models are so well practiced at what they do, and its not unusual to have someone around them observing them. I was a hair model once, and have been an artist most of my life. And so in a way, this is my respect to all the models ive worked with over the years. Often todays female models in the arts dont get thanked for what they do". The entirely original perspective of viewing her on a 90 degree angle gives her a monumental elegance which, along with the deep tonality of the background, accentuates her subtle expression of bemused interest and curiosity. The viewer is at once also curious about his circumstance and entranced by her vivid glowing features and riveting beauty. As with many of Mumford's later works, however, one can enjoy the exquisite beauty and light of the drawing without troubling too much over its exact meaning. the drawing could be yours, and can be found at Ipswich art society Just Nude exhibition Roderick street, Ipswich Queensland
