About The Artwork

Known as Diana to the Romans or Artemis in the Greek mythology, the Goddess of the Hunt and Moon roamed the wilderness, armed with a bow and quiver of arrows, accompanied by nymphs and her hunting dogs. She was considered protector of pre-pubescent girls and young animals, she brought relieve from pain to pregnant women who prayed to her. These atributes inspired me the representation of a feminine character integrating the archetypal predisposition toward a sense of sisterhood with women, to complete acceptance of sexuality, feminity and receptivity towards nature and human nature itself. Even if “the stars” are falling, she posseses a will that is not broken, an inner spirit that will not subdue.

Born in 1982, Timişoara, Romania. Based in Timişoara, Romania. "My current artistic interest is focused on the young feminine figure, not as a portrait but as an archetypal vehicle for different human emotions as well as for certain aspects of metamorphosis. Delicate faces, nostalgic eyes searching the horizon, expressions of fear, hope, honesty, trust, disappointment, love, passion, regrets and expectations with only a glimpse of the unbreakable feminine strength behind them. I use narrative driven images with symbolic twists and turns embedded with elements from the mineral world, plants and fauna, all are interwoven to act as reflections of my personal epiphanies. My work reveals my interest in the escapism and melancholy of the 19th century Romantic aesthetics and the contemporary social environment- a melancholic attitude towards the lost spiritual values, as well as a deep interest for what lies beneath the surface of daily life."
