Fascinating Creature 4 Drawing

I am the Director for a gallery in Nashville, TN called Channel To Channel. 3 times a week I host an event called "Drink-n-Draw" where artists from around the community are able to join together and create art from a live nude model. I have had the fortune of attending pretty much all of them since January 2015 and have been able to experiment quite a bit with a live model. I love the paintings of Jonathan Lasker and the flatness and spacing his line work creates. My previous body of work revolved around abstract oil paintings that were highly textured both 2-Dimensionally and 3-Dimensionally. Here I have taken my line work to the model while still maintaining a since of freedom when drawing. What is important to me is texture and line spacing. Not so much accurately drawing the figure. I hope this drawing conveys a since of relaxation for the mind and the eyes. I have enjoyed the immediate nature of picking up a stick of NuPastel and quickly being able to mix what I am seeing with what I wish to express in my mind onto paper. I believe that the nude human figure is the gold standard for drawing life, and it portrays a since of freedom from a world that so often sexualizes nudity. I don't want my work to come off as erotic or sexual in nature. I want it to be stripped of these conventional notions and naturally exist in an environment as we naturally exist in our environments.
