About The Artwork

Inspired by watching buzzing pollinators turn sluggish with each stop at a ripe fig. I wanted to study the detail of the fig leaf with my charcoal at the same scale the bee sees it. The linen hangs loosely against the wall where it is able to respond to the movement of air as the branches do in the garden.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Birthed out of a fascination of ancient technique, my large scale botanical tapestries are a lesson in history and a record of today. After I take photos of the flower for the composition, I dry the flower, grind it into pigment, and make it into the egg tempera I will use to paint the linen. The subject lives forever in its painting, using a widely forgotten process of the Old Masters. The paint is the flower, allowing the flower to live on in its portrait.
