About The Artwork

This poem was written at one of the lowest points of my life, where I learnt to be grateful for the simple little things in life. This attitude has made daily life so much richer. I used water-resistant fine liner pens on a sturdy 220gm heavyweight cartridge paper for this drawing. The 3D effect of the hand and the cup was created with different shading techniques: hatching, crosshatching, and scribbling. I hope you’ll be encouraged whenever you see this artwork at home or in your office.

I am a self-taught artist and writer on a mission to create art that encourages and inspires people towards a kinder, gentler, happier, compassionate world. My artworks are often inspired by my life's reflections. I love drawing the traditional way; my line illustrations are hand-drawn with fine liner pens on paper. Sometimes, my poems accompany the artwork. As the only child, my late mother would buy me books to read and art books to keep me occupied. After over 20 years of choosing safer careers, in 2021, I followed my heart’s instinct and I’m pursuing two loves—drawing and writing, as my business. It has been years in the making—starting as a seven-year-old, sitting cross-legged on the floor, learning to draw from the art books my late mother has bought. I also publish a newsletter, HopeMail— it's about life lessons told through short personal essays, plus updates on my drawing, and the occasional comic and poem. Please subscribe to enjoy. You’ll receive the newsletter twice a month on Fridays. Subscribe: https://bit.ly/HopeMail
