Flag (After Jasper Johns, Yoko Ono and IKEA) Drawing

I started this drawing as an exercise in this group, we have to draw an ordinary object, I choose a kitchen cloth from IKEA, and with this I started a conversation with the drawing and it began to get a meaning and a self identity. Jasper Johns back in the sixties created a series called Flag, according to the critics he wanted to create the authentic 20th century American art in contrast with the European avant garde movements. At the same time Yoko Ono published "Grapefruit a book of instructions and drawings", according to Wikipedia: The name Grapefruit was chosen as title because Ono believed the grapefruit to be a hybrid of an orange and a lemon, and thus a reflection of herself as "a spiritual hybrid". This book was the inspiration for John Lennon's Imagine and the verses: Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion, too During the time I was working on this drawing I became Canadian citizen, while I was showing my work on virtual exhibitions in Santa Monica CA, Terre Haute IA, and Toronto ON, so who am I after all? Where are my roots? Am I Mexican or Canadian? Which is my Flag and my National Identity? Is it even important today to create a national movement, is it important to Make America Great Again?
