Like a moth to a flame. The drawing is based on the pūriri moth, also commonly called the ghost moth. It is New Zealand's largest moth, with a wingspan of up to 150 mm. It spends the first five to six years of its life as a grub in a tree trunk with the last glorious 48 hours of its life as a moth. The piece took four months and forty 6B pencils to complete. It is all hand drawn with graphite and painted with gold dust.

MISTER, is a London based Artist who has exhibited in Europe and the USA. He has a growing fan base, and collectors worldwide. He was professionally trained in Fine Art and started his career originally and successfully in teaching. Later on in life, MISTER took a leap of faith to pursue his art as a full time artist. He was awarded the Royal Arts prize in 2020, and a subsequent solo exhibition at the Galleria Pall Mall Gallery followed, as well as exhibitions in Madrid and Lisbon. His inspiration comes from the history of Art, story telling, and images of strong female figures, and in exploring the boundaries of gender and cultural identity. In expressing colour and narrative, he carefully crafts and weaves together images to produce a striking visual mixed media art form. He initially works in his sketchbook using drawing, collage and paint to develop his imagery. He will further enhance his imagery with digital and multi layered images from his travels, Art history, and other urban and everyday sources. Each artwork he creates exists within a limited collection of 10 pieces. Each piece will vary in appearance due to the hand painted techniques and bespoke embellishing of gold leaf and diamond dust applied to each piece. MISTER is currently interested in themes of guardianship, and the strength which can be developed and promoted within others. He often draws upon from his extensive experience in teaching Art and as a classroom practitioner, as well as his pastoral role for the welfare of others. He is testimony in his belief in life long learning and in continuing to develop and thrive in this ever changing world.
