This work is drawn on canvas with an acrylic marker. It will be shipped stretched and ready to hang. It is signed on reverse and unframed. Water is movement—flow and energy—with the line characteristics the same. Hamburg-based artist Annette Mewes-Thoms uses the line as her theme when creating energetic and flowing drawings and paintings. Her concept is to start each work with an intuitively placed line to which she aligns all of the following. She builds up several layers of lines. By layering lines she creates a condensing as well as an overlap. This is what she calls “visual sensations” because the layering creates a shimmering effect. Annette Mewes-Thoms can’t plan and predict how her work will turn out. Therefore while working, she finds herself in a state of both: excitement and meditation.
