Drawing: Graphite, Acrylic on Canvas.
Part of a series on human migration, this piece is inspired from news out of Syria. Go North is a drawing/mix media piece just out of the National Print and Drawing show at Clemson University. I deal in human conditions...stresses...as well as migrations of many things. The original interest came from university class work studying the elements of human pushes and pulls...economic...cultural...war...transportation...all that result in the relocation of large masses of people.
Seeds and animals also fall into the process of migration and result in an ever changing earth.
Political voice is an important part of the art process and although many choose not to look at these situations...we need to pause and understand that humans across the globe are forced many times to flee for their lives. And we must ask ourselves...could we walk...could we place in backpacks our whole lives and walk?
