VIEW IN MY ROOM
Drawing: Charcoal, Conte on Paper.
Hocus Pocus is an original charcoal drawing on Fabriano paper, with deckled edges, float framed with a simple, white wood moulding.
I love drawing movement and started to use the horse as model alongside my figurative work around 3 years ago. This drawing, from my ongoing series of horses in motion, features an appaloosa horse, famed for its spotty coat, which I chose as it works just so well graphically in black and white.
I have cropped the composition at the top in order that we focus on the legs, the horse is in mid gallop at the exact moment when all four legs are off the ground. This gives us a sense of speed, and weightlessness. I hope that the viewer gets a sense of power, energy and freedom from this work.
