About The Artwork

Attracted by the colors and textures I used the Iguanas as a subject for this piece and digitally combined it with one of my illustrations. This piece earn me the "Best in Show" price in my first exhibit.

Born in Hermosillo Sonora Mexico in 1960, Abelardo became a licensed Architect in 1985, the same year he traveled to Washington DC and met his wife. Subsequently, he moved to New Jersey where he established his permanent residence with his wife and two daughters. Abelardo has been practicing architecture since he arrived to the US, and he truly enjoys his profession. He is a skilled designer, and among his most notable projects is ”The Charles H. Bullock Elementary School” in Montclair NJ, where he designed the facades and the main lobby which included the interior lighting fixtures and the terrazzo floor at the main lobby where he used the Fibonacci Ratio as the base of his design. An avid photographer all his life, in 2014 he began experimenting with the digital manipulation of his photography and drawings. The intention behind his photographs is to expose the beauty of a variety of subjects through the enhancement of their color, texture and details which he captures through the lens and enriches digitally and through the printing process. He also applies this principle to his artwork which reflects the influence of his heritage and of his favorite Mexican painters: Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Zúñiga and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Abelardo uses a number of mediums in the creation of his pieces and he later subjects them to the digital process until the desired image is achieved. His recent association with the Anyo Foundation attests Abelardo’s commitment to give back to the community through an organization that has goals and values that reflects his own. Abelardo’s commitment is to give at least 25% of the net profits for the sale of his art to this and other altruistic organizations.
