About The Artwork

I made this drawing in Ørstedpark Copenhagen on a rainy night. Later I realised the that name of this flow was Kniphofia named after a german botanist, and with origin from South Africa. I made this drawing as the second drawing that night after moving from a black site below some threes and out in the more open, but then the rain started to get more intense. Essentially, that impacted the drawing process in charcoal on paper and I had to leave the part and finished the drawing after having returned to work from home. Raketblomst is the name in Danish, not priests cock as a drunk told med when I came back two days later to take a photograph in order to identify the correct name of this staude.

Zonation paintings focus on integrating and balancing the elements: lines, tones and colours. I follow an expressionist painting philosophy inspired by Cézanne, Kleé and followers. Motives: Copenhagen cityscapes, croquis, stilleben. Artworks in acrylics, oil, aqua oil, multicoloured chalk, aquarelle and pencils. Artist video: http://vimeo.com/5322606 Artist podcast (Fr): http://podcloud.fr/podcast/choses-a-savoir-art/episode/artiste-a-decouvrir-hans-jorgen-henriksen I use the acronym 'de Hansi' in order to distinct my painting activities from my professional work as a hydrologist. I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
