My first exhibition in a series, ‘Hello...?’ held in November 2017 in London worked with cross-pollination of meanings of the circle and line and the human hand. 0 and 1 being the ‘parents of all shapes and numbers’; 0 being not a negative but the ‘first possibility’ and the space through, which with one more (another 0, the first ‘other’), enable all other shapes and numbers to be drawn out from their interaction. The human hand, the first point of interaction between the body, the mind and its environs (photos attached). In using a mixture of graphite and paint on wood, and only the primary colours, there is a sense of playfulness and simplicity in the telling of a story so seemingly simple but on reflection quiet and laden with its own meaning that the viewer is invited to bring to their interpretation. I use the gradients of white not as empty but as space for the ideas of the observer to fill. These first pieces exhibited are offering the images up as a question to the observer.
