Doodles with marker and gesso on watercolor paper. I never know what the spirit will want to draw. I just open up my human form to it and allow it to happen. This one looks to me like a huge hug. A family saying we want to stay together always. This one reminds me of home. It has calming vibes.

The daughter of a humble Japanese Immigrant, Leilani's early childhood was plagued with hardship, lack of resources, and social inequalities. At a young age, Leilani found an escape from the cruel world with paper, pencils and her imagination. Following her mother's dream of forging a better life, Leilani focused on becoming a nurse . It wasn't until years later that her creative spirit was reawakened after a series of events led her to darkness. Art was her way out. The spiritual journey of transforming darkness is evident in her earlier works to current. She now resides in Arizona and creates art full time. Leilani understands her purpose is to share the transformation she experienced with the world through art. She believes all humans are able to return to their light. "Through art, my soul is set free"
