About The Artwork
I was inspired to use my pastels to draw this artwork when I had some lilies sitting on the white garden table. The background was blue and I only had to add a patterned cloth to it and I had a perfect still life. I added the apples in a bowl, African Violets and then I had the perfect still life. Pastels do this kind of painting justice as the pure pigments capture the colours and details of the still life. This painting was selected for the Pastel Society's Annual exhibition in the prestigious Mall Gallery in London. This Pastel is framed in a silver frame and has a white mount making it a large dramatic still life painting which is ready to hang. My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
