About The Artwork

In my drawings I explore the Chinese Ink. I have been working with Chinese Ink and Brushstrokes in many years, adding some western style elements to explore the balance between the different styles. I am not familiar with the Chinese characters and the Chinese way of using the Brush, therefore my work with the Brush is totally intuitive and emotional. In adding the other elements I am very analytical and mind controlled. That creates a contradiction and dynamic in the works I quite like. The Chinese rice paper is new to me, I find it a very sensitive material that I enjoy very much! In this series I discuss the different attitudes towards Nature in East and West. Based on the intuitive Brushstrokes I create a female nude in Correction tape, some of the lines are outlined with Graphite. Using Frottage technic I create some Water paraphrases. The Frottage technic was invented by and widely used by Max Ernst. The objects I used for the Frottages are all related to water – a stone sink, a record with watermusic etc.
