About The Artwork

Title: Memory Sculpture: Movement of Compensation Size: 50 x 65 cm / 19.7“ x 25.6“ Year: 2008 "Memory Sculpture: Movement of Compensation" is a work from the series "Monologues" and is one of the earliest Memory Sculpture formations. The works from this series include the basic formations of the Memory Sculpture symbol-language. What would our lives look like, if we worked on our memories like they were sculptures? That is the initial question behind the concept of "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur.") Memory Sculptures are created on the basis of philosophical, psychological, or literary concepts. Based on a symbol-language the displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. This work is signed on the reverse and provided with a work stamp as well as an artist stamp with information about the materials, year of creation, title, size etc. Original Created: 2008 Subjects: Abstract Materials: Paper Styles: Abstract, Conceptual, Documentary, Modern Mediums: Charcoal, Graphite, Ink, Stamp

Mersolis Schöne is a German Artist, Film Director, and Researcher based in Vienna, Austria. He is a member of Künstlerhaus Wien in Austria, The Professional Association of Visual Artists in Germany, and other associations. His works "Memory Sculptures" (Gedächtnisskulpturen) presented at Saatchi Art are based on a symbol-language. The displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. Have you ever thought about what our lives would be like if we treated our memories like sculptures? That's the question at the heart of the "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur") concept. The process of creation varies, on the one hand there are interactive performative settings in exchange with other artists (e.g. from the fields of music, literature, film, performance), where the works are created during the performative exchange. On the other hand, there are clearly defined symbol formations that are developed over months and years.
