Mudhol Dog, The Hound of India Drawing

Pencil sketch of the famous Indian hound called the Mudhol hound! Many may not know about this very Indian hound. Canis lupus familiarises the Mudhol Hound, also known variously as the Maratha Hound, the Pashmi Hound and the Kathewar Dog, is a breed of sighthound from India. It also has a striking resemblance to the Greyhound. This breed thrives on human companionship and is tolerant of other dogs. Mudhols are fiercely loyal to their owners and can even attack strangers if they feel the owner is in danger. The Mudhol hound is one of the most healthy dogs to have around and has no particular health issues attached to it. Their lineage and breeding have ensured they can combat the Indian weather conditions. Their loyalty towards the family makes them good guards and watchdogs but their fragile temperament will not make them good therapy dogs. The other thing that makes the sighthound different is the amazing sight that helps them to chase away rabbits and other small animals. All this is because of the position of their eyes. These hounds have long elongated skulls with tapering muzzles. This helps to have a 270-degree field of vision. This is almost twice what you and I can see. It would not be wrong to say that this hound can see behind its head also!!
