Mutterchen Russland Drawing

This is the second illustration I did from the Nightwatch series. I was very inspired by "The Sixth Watch" by Sergei Lukyanenko, and by the beauty of the women in the movies. Olga, the witch, the protector of Anton. Funny, how the most powerful mage in the series (by actions, not by power) has a protector. Even the best of us, the strongest of us need protecting and consoling sometimes. Mood? From the original scene this illustration was based on, Olga's body is possessed by Anton (body-swap spell), and Anton tries to tell his love, Sveta, that he's not Olga (he's hiding out in her body from the Daywatch). Olga's mood is decisive and frank, but also compassionate. Drawn to the stylings of Mutterchen Russland by Nachtmahr. Why do I use ink? Ink is like life. There are no take-backs. You must commit to a choice and deal with the consequences. Yes, sometimes, even after multiple hours working on a drawing, I must start over because I wasn't paying attention to my pain levels or how tired I was, but that's life, no? Start again, learn from the mistakes. I commit to the moment and have faith in myself; when it's good, I see the brilliance of myself.
