N2 is a collection of 24 psychedelic artworks created by Samu Carvajal in 2020. These works explore three main topics: creation, space, and the observer. Borrowing the impressionist techniques and combining them with the abstract expressionists’ statement, Samu delivers a vibrant psychedelic landscape that manifests a new reality in the space between the artwork and the observer. By not naming the artworks (a technique used by the classical music composers) the artist aims to abstract any intentional meaning enabling the observer to become part of the creation. The ultimate experience is composed in our minds. N2, Op. 14 Samu Carvajal (2020) Markers on Paper 30 x 42 cm.

“Just like the silence between the notes sparks music, I believe the mystery unfolds in the space connecting the artwork and the observer. All these visual manifestations are dimensions in which we can recognise ourselves” - Samu Carvajal. Through deep questioning and observation, alongside his studies on human creativity and education, Samu Carvajal constructs an individual and authentic style that takes place in the distance between psychedelic art and art brut. Carvajal’s started his career as a commercial artist working primarily in Advertising. After a few years of prizes and successful campaigns, he decided to focus his work on encouraging observation rather than selling products. The artist takes inspiration from the world around him, combining and recreating elements from mass media to ancient philosophy. By not naming his artworks he invites the observer to become part of the creative experience. Samu works mainly on paper and canvas. Usually defining a concept for a collection and then employing flow techniques to complete his artworks. Samu Carvajal b. 1987 / Santiago, Chile. Based in Sydney, Australia.
