About The Artwork

Mathieu van der Poel collapsed with exhaustion after winning stage 5 of the Tirreno-Adriatico road cycling race, 2021. After riding away from the other cyclists with 52 km remaining of the stage, van der Poel rode without assistance into the wind to narrowly beat a counter-attack from 2020 Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar. Van der Poel fell off his bicycle after crossing the finish line. This is part 3 of a 3 part series featuring van der Poel's Spring 2021 wins. Watercolour and pencils on The Langton archival paper. Signed and dated with the artist's monogram and signature in the lower left. The artwork is approximately 39 x 27 cm. It's been trimmed because it was stretched, as is customary for light watercolour paper. Available for sale unmounted. A passe-partout is recommended for framing.
