Science and art have intersected for centuries. I am very interested in scientific illustration, and botanical illustration. I believe that art can express science and nature in a unique and individualistic way. Additionally, science can allow art to be informative, relevant and functional. My main artistic inspirations come from the Earth and the things that grow from it. I specialize in ink botanical illustrations, and find joy in the endless forms that nature creates. I am constantly researching and cataloging flora and fauna in my local region, and keep many nature journals. Additionally, I have a herbarium containing wildflowers, local weeds, trees, moss, ferns, lichens and seaweeds. All of my botanical works are based off of actual specimens I have collected. I have now branched out and have begun exploring other natural phenomena, such as geologic structures and celestial configurations. These are reflected in my abstract work. I have a continued interest in alchemical and occult themes, and occasionally my art reflects ancient symbolism. I hope to grow my portfolio of alchemical works. My medium of choice is archival ink on acid free paper. I also work with watercolors on hot press watercolor paper, gouache, and acrylics. I am drawn to strong linework and rich, deeply pigmented paints. My work constantly evolves and explores new mediums and methods of creating artwork.
