Out of the Boxes - Ar1_Blue Drawing

Each piece is unique in that the media, soft pastel, responds differently each time to the manipulation of the water spray and the artist’s hand and the type of paper used. Sometimes other media is applied to the paper to create new textures and responses to the soft pastel and spray. They are a carefully constructed combination of technical rigidity and freedom. The technique is stochastic with elements of chance and probability within a rigorous structure. This series evolved from a search for a minimalist, elegant and zen-like expression. Originally in only black and white for the most dramatic and simple expression of contrast but later evolutions began to experiment with color.
