*Artwork is Framed*

Initially i wanted to create paintings that are visually appealing. This appeared as straight lines, shapes and colours. Colours representative of nature combined with the urban landscape as my inspiration. Straight lines drawn with an architecture ruler seemed like they could only exist in a multidimensional space as if they were carefully designed and painted. However brush strokes and pencil marks can be found if you look at the paintings closely. These are very natural mistakes made by hands and therefore represent myself and my human limitations. Painting by hands is one of the most important elements of my practice as in this modern society we are no longer allowed to make mistakes. My desire to complete the perfect paintings ultimately is an impossible goal. But it is fine as it is.

Recently moved to Castlemaine, Yuna Chun is currently exploring how one's living experience evolves in response to their environment. Her work, painted with acrylic on wood panels, depicts the forms of urban structures combined with vibrant colors, creating hard-edge geometric patterns. Since moving to regional Australia from Metropolitan Korea, Chun has discovered her curiosity in Australian flora and fauna, inspiring her to experiment with a new artistic style. Born in Seoul, Yuna Chun earned her BFA from RMIT University in 2011. Following nine years in Australia, she initiated her artistic journey in Seoul and has been working between Korea and Australia.
