The inspiration for my plant drawings, and also for this dandelion drawing, comes from the beautiful european forests and meadows. Dandelion flowers are awesome - yellow, simple, abundant at every corner, but still beautiful! I still love to blow them away :) The smoky and dusty effect of the vine ...

As the geograph and anarchist Jacques Élisée Reclus said: "Man is nature becoming aware of itself" - Nature itself is the greatest artist but it needs help of the human being to be able to recognise and show its beauty, delicacy and elegance. As an artist I've made it my mission to present mother nature from her most beautiful site. In my first life as biologist I had the great privilege of spending my time with observing, studying and investigating the inner beauty of nature. My recent life and daily work as artist and scientific illustrator remains very close to nature and often starts with a combination of walking the dog and searching for sources of inspriation before the practical part begins. My art is mostly inspired by the forms, shapes, structures, colors and feelings of nature, especially by the flora, but also by my affinity to bizarre, strange and morbid stuff, historical subjects, remnants of time and mysterious tales. I constantly aim at finding the best media and techniques to be able to highlight small parts, structures, shapes, and hidden secrets of the great whole. I often switch between paper and canvas, charcoal, pastel, pencil, acrylics and oils, as well as between drawing, painting and printing – it always depends. I love to experiment and surprise myself. In the present strange and difficult times for both nature and human beings, with my art I aim at bringing some nature-induced happiness to other people. Small pieces of nature that balance the soul.
