Lux Eterna is a freelance fine and digital artist, commercial photographer and arts educator living, working and exhibiting between Sydney and NYC. Holding degrees in Arts, Filmmaking and Education, her original training consisted of classical music, photography and ceramics. Lux currently maintains a regular bodyweather practice, which somatically imprints the natural world and it’s patterns into her body. She is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work investigates existing ideas concerning feminine/masculine image, sacred and platonic geometric forms and life/death cycles of organic matter and biomaterial and the passing of time. Having just finished facilitating alongside Marina Abramović in residence, for Kaldor Public Art Projects here in Sydney, which included training in Marina’s method, Lux’s exploration into and development of new works are opening up to include long durational performance, further expanding on her own meditative practice. A multidisciplinary artistic approach investigating the inter connectivity between transient yet infinitely occurring circular paths of life, death and regeneration, oscillation between the collective feminine and masculine forces of our psyche, re-tracing sacred and platonic geometry as the elemental source for all shape and material construct of our universe, the viscera, the atoms of nature. My practice involves collection, examination and re-imaging of the most durable parts of biomaterial: teeth and bones, a subtle imprinting of geometric forms through reflective meditation, video and sound scaping, and challenging current image and art making stereotypes of feminine/masculine by bringing it back to the experiential, the reflective and the emotive psyche.
