'Rose tinted glasses' is the first of many studies I am currently exploring around the concept of motherhood and technology. This project looks at the ways mothers use technology and the connections their children make with the world as a result. In this particular work the mother is taking a selfie of both her and her child whilst out enjoying a day at the beach. It encompasses the love they have for each other which detracts from the technology being used in this instance. Selfie's generally show their subjects posing overtly. This image is no exception. The child is already aware of how to behave infront of the camera. I would hope that viewers see the positive side of the use of technology in this case and the benefits it has on recording such joyful events. My initial chosen medium to express any work of art is always to sketch and draw to record movement. Out of this more detailed work emerges as large formatted drawings. In this case I experimented with lustre coated board to give the image an illuminated appearance. These have now been developed further into mono prints. It is my intention to create a series of paintings on this subject matter.

Christine Lamb MA illustration Born in Lancashire Lives & works in Cardiff, South Wales As an artist and lecturer have spent all of my life participating in creative practice and research. I draw and paint from nature and have a passion for portraiture and figurative work. From an early age my portfolio has opened many doors for me that has lead to an early career in the printing industry and then as a lecturing artist. Print is a natural transition for my drawings. I have used the images of my life drawings to explore different different print processes. More recent experimentation with mixed media has developed a series of work based on walks around the Welsh coast. It seems to be a very organic process which stems from my initial ideas. As I am creating the paintings I allow the images at each stage to shape the final pieces. I realise that this practice has been formed out of my drawing. I am particularly draw towards subjects where I can capture energy and movement. I have subconsciously chosen these as potential compositions for a series of work entitled ‘Walk the Talk”. My aim is to produce high contrast images that are visually bold and expressive. I feel this reflects the emotions I have at the time I am drawing them.
