STOP Drawing

STOP- Galapagos Hawk with a sign. Colored pencils on illustration board. Inspired by the gorgeous photography by my friend Yoshimasa Ikeuchi of Japan. The reference photo I used was one of many photographs from Mr. Ikeuchi's visit to the Galapagos Islands. I was overwhelmed when he gave me permission to draw/recreate his photography. So I had to ask twice. He told me, "many tourist visit that area, and it was surprising how close people can get to the wildlife". What that STOP sign means, is anyone's guess. I love the textures and colors, and imagine myself there. I absolutely love drawing and painting from nature, even though sometimes it can be extremely challenging. Mixing that color, and/or creating that texture, the part that nobody taught me how to create. Trying it, doing it, and failing,...is better than just thinking about it, over and over again. And wondering, if I tried, would it look good?
