Drawing: oil pastel on Paper.
A very significant artwork for me as it is one from the many I made during the Covid 19 lockdown in Italy. Being forced home I went through all the photographs I took during the three years I've been living in London and made oil pastel on paper inspired by them. Making this series has been great for me as it gave me the chance to feel all the emotions I felt while I was in London, a city that I love.
Most of the photographs were taken in restaurants as my boyfriend was working as a chef at the time and I am always in for dining out and enjoying new places where I can sketch people immersed in beautifully curated interiors.
This is one is slightly different from most of the drawings from this series, as it depicts the exterior of a restaurant that struck me for the beautiful name and design of the place and, of course, because of the bright coloured bikes parked just outside. I remember being on a running session so I couldn't stop there but I allowed myself a second of rest to take a least a snapshot of the place, making also a mental note to add this place to the list of restaurants I wanted to got to, one day. Unfortunately, later in the year this branch of S.I.N. was closed, but I will always have this drawing, reminding me of one of the always exciting strolls in the city.
I hope you too can feel the excitement I experience every time I find a new favourite place in London and that you'd like to take this drawing to your place to help brighten your day every time you'll look at it.
