Edvarda Aslaksen Braanaas is a Norwegian artist based in Los Angeles. Over the years she has developed a distinct style that melds various pop culture imagery with her love of literature, fashion, film and photography. Her approach is always with a narrative intent. In addition to her fine art work, Edvarda has worked on numerous projects at the intersection of art and fashion, literature, and digital surfaces. In 2011 she launched the iPhone app “The Lolita Story” featuring 52 illustrations inspired by Vladimir Nabokov’s world classic “Lolita”. “Dostoyevsky's Heroines” - a series of paintings where she transformed five of the most prominent female characters in Fyodor Dostoevsky's authorship into modern day poster models - has been shown at several exhibitions. Since 2011, Edvarda has worked in Los Angeles. She spent the first three years there developing a large scale painting series titled “Mnemosyne”. The series was completed in the spring of 2014.
