About The Artwork

My passion for nature was taken to a heightened level back in 2000 when I had the good fortune to spend time in Kenya and then South Africa. This ignited within me a keen interest in conservation and an obsession with the details of wild animals .At the time I was concentrating on honing my draughtsmanship skills and found the rendering of these beautiful creatures a wonderful way of doing so. I have been holding on to a few of my most beloved drawings from that period of time which I have now decided to let go of. These snow leopards were studied within nature reserves in the UK, to me they among the most alluring and enigmatic of animals. Within each of my wildlife drawings I have discreetly incorporated a small creature or insect indigenous to the natural habitat of the focal animal. I hope this will make the viewer scrutinise the details of the drawing in order to discover it!

Born in England's county of Norfolk I was natured and nurtured in rural surroundings before moving to London for my University education and a career in Dance and Aerial Circus Arts. In 2000 some time spent in Africa profoundly moved me towards an interest in conservation and ecology, I expressed my new-found passion and honed my drawing skills for the next few years via detailed graphite drawings of wildlife. Between 2005 and 2015 I painted only commissions as my performing career took off (quite literally in the form of wingwalking and aerial wire dancing!) and I moved around frequently. I feel that this period helped me to grow and develop my artistic voice into what it is now. My paintings have developed into colourful mindscapes that retain the primal influence of nature and natural forces at their core. I continue to express my passion for the environment from both a physical and metaphysical standpoint by exploring our place within the vast tapestry of life and by hopefully bringing awareness to its wonders.
