I thought I should talk to someone about my cancer although I usually talk to the bus driver which I admit can destroy his concentration. The psychiatrist asks me how I'm doing in terms of cooking, self care, bathing as he loves to point me in the direction of hospice residency. No, No, No, Not yet. Could I give up my nights drawing in bed, sleeping with pencils pushed to the wall, a jar of water, papers everywhere. Neatness was never my forte before the cancer came and it certainly isn't now. In two hours Toronto Housing is threatening to bring Extreme Clean in who just toss and toss, Once someone tried to help me and they threw out my colored pencils as they thought I had too many, never differentiating that they were various colors. Now at another appointment, the Dr. initiated the conversation by saying that 50% of his clients were just like me, end stage cancer. And nothing I would do, no treatment, no foods I would eat or thoughts I would have could save me, I was going to die. My cancer was too large. Then he asked what I thought of him now. I didn't say I mentally had my fingers in my ears, saying la,la la loudly and didn't hear, I did and answered oh that was O.K. I really didn't believe him. But I cried when I got home. That's my inner child scrambling under the couch and me on it. I draw a picture and that's that. This really looks like him. Dr. Mah.
