Art Description

Drawing: Ink, Paper on Paper.

Stonelickers is a series that includes several works relating to parasitic relationships and their potential as a model for artistic production and cultural exchange. The drawings for this permutation of the series are based on images of the mouth and teeth of several species of Lamprey. The name Lamprey comes from Latin 'Lampare-petra' roughly translated as 'Stone-lickers' the name of the particular species of the Stone Licker is in parenthesis. I hope that this will resonate on more than one level: an attraction at the sight of the image but with a tingle of revulsion with the knowledge that this is based on a mouth of a parasitic fish.
