Lei Ti, was born in 1982 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, ROC. He was inspired by a traditional Taiwanese ceremony, where he got the idea of applying firecrackers to art. Burned firecrackers leave quite special marks. They are beautiful, and represent unique historical and cultural implications of Chinese heritage. After long-term practice and with his American wife's encouragement, Lei Ti made up his mind to specialize in firecracker exploding works and continue to explore his own style of art. He has developed three main series and held solo exhibitions and group exhibitions every year, hoping to inspire people with his unique approaches and contemporary views.

The Chinese invented firecrackers more than 1,400 years ago. They have many different names and types. The main principle is that during gunpowder combustion, air heats and expands instantaneously, which causes the cardboard tube to explode and burn with huge sound, light and smoke. Tracing the history of firecrackers, they are mostly used for festivals, celebrations, weddings, religious activities, and at Chinese New Year. The main function is celebration and protection against evil. Firecrackers have spread around the world and as long as there are Chinese people, the custom of burning firecrackers will go on.

The main principle of firecracker painting is to use the instant blast of combustion to brand a media plane with fire and smoke. Firecracker painting is achieved by controlled burning of firecrackers and by using isolation and insulation principles. Because of the complexity of these principles, the unpredictability of firecracker painting operations leads to high failure rates. There is a considerable degree of difficulty in creation, but because of this the work is also unique.
