About The Artwork
This piece began as a drawing and wound up being a digital collage. I drew the stream-of-consciousness portrait with some crappy oil pastels a few years ago, thinking about no one person in particular. Then, two weeks ago, I was able to scan the original drawing and digitally place the image in front of a crystalline photo of a rural scene. The choice for the rural scene was made because a sort of mythology developed about the "Sunburned Man". My girlfriend found him quite creepy and coined the term to describe his original complexion.
