About The Artwork

What/who inspired the work: Inspired by media portrayals of world history, politics and religion and then compared with actual history, politics and religion. Specifically that which drives and is tied to supremacist groups, political parties and a long line of questions society has. As artists we are well aware of the need to push forth with freedom of expression, our right to question and highlight issues that are clear and direct. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think: Some will hate it and others will love it but I'm reaching out to the free thinking masses in society, the ones who question everything. All I want is that you ponder on this topic. What I do know is that this work will cause people to feel something and that's the purpose of art. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style: We'll I did a bit of research before I delved into this subject as an Art Piece and looked at nearly everything that's been hiding in plain sight [history, politics and religion]. I then took on the challenge to present it in a unique way through my creativity and once done I then did comparative research on all other presentations of the subject matter. There is another Art work, a sizable oil painting on board unlike this drawing but not touching the same subject of "The Antichrist" it's more historic yet fictionally futuristic but you'll see the rest of my works here. The two are somewhat interlinked. I chose pen on paper, deliberately in this style as it reflects the feel of a pamphlet one would expect flying out of a plane during world wars one and two. Those state sponsored ones dropped down in enemy territory. [Enemy could be either side] However, this work is an artists way of saying we will not be ruled by those who try their hand at perception management, rather we will rise to the challenge.

Here's a 2021 Artist Interview Farook had at the Athenaeum which aired on DSTV Channel 260: https://youtu.be/o5B_-HaJhNE From the Artist: "I come from a very diverse family background and have family in nearly every part of the world. I was born and raised in the beautiful Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I’ve traveled around the country and made home of our other noted and beautifully vibrant cities such as Johannesburg and Durban but I’m now back in my hometown. I’m also a collector of rarities and other valuables, an artist by nature and my work is influenced by world history, my own diverse family background which I can trace “spanning continents”, I’m also influenced by my physical surroundings and global events affecting us all (some of my works are a bit controversial and it adds some fun and spice for collectors who buy my works with the aim of making a buck or two or simply because they love and appreciate my creative expression), it’s all very unique, always tells a story and looks like the kind of artwork you’d usually find in an old money home. I’ve taken part in National and International Art competitions such as the Mzansi Art Gallery Competition & Exhibition 2021, The 2021 New Now Emerging Artist Competition hosted by Galerie NOKO, sponsored by VANSA [Visual Artist Network of South Africa], L’atelier [Continental, Sponsored by ABSA Bank] and Climanosco (Switzerland) for Art And Science on the topic of Global Warming and Rising Water Levels & State of The Art Gallery Competition on the same theme of Global Warming. I have a lot more to say and add but will be updating my journey along the way.
