Dominik Wein, Not just ART: "A brand new genre"! He merges film, photography, digital, and traditional art to tell stories. Currently dividing his time between Berlin, Germany, and Alaró, Spain, Dominik Wein continually pushes the boundaries of creative expression. Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Wein grew up in South Africa, where he completed his secondary education and went on to study design. His artistic journey led him through various internships in film and digital image editing in cities like Los Angeles, Johannesburg, and Munich, where he further honed his skills. Wein began painting at the age of seven and sold his first oil painting — a portrait of William Shakespeare — at 21. In the 1990s, he became one of Europe’s most sought-after digital artists, creating groundbreaking digital collages for renowned brands such as FOCUS, ELLE, the Jane Goodall Institute, and Virgin Records. A milestone in his career was designing the first digital art poster for FC Bayern Munich. Wein was among the pioneers to blend digital processes with traditional art and even developed a hybrid digital/analog camera that integrated film into his works. His work took on new dimensions with the 53-minute documentary BLACK WHITE BLUR, accompanied by an exhibition. He also produced numerous corporate films for companies like BASF, Axel Springer Digital TV, and Burda. Despite his success, the art world urged him to commit to a single style. From 2010 to 2020, Wein responded by creating THE HISTORY EXHIBITION. In this innovative project, he worked under various pseudonyms to explore a wide range of artistic styles — each with its own narrative. The concept was a major success with both the art scene and the press and was showcased in numerous galleries. During this period, Wein’s artistic identity became synonymous with a dynamic and versatile creative approach. Dominik Wein’s art is not only extraordinary but also constantly evolving. His works remain powerful, passionate, and innovative — a reflection of his ongoing dedication to pushing the limits of art. But above all, what matters most to him is the story behind the ARTWORKS.
