I will awake sometimes thinking of an animal. And it's not from a dream or anything. It's just in my head. One morning it was a lemur, inspiring five pastel paintings featuring lemurs. Often inspiration for a painting comes from listening and observing.
Falcons were discussed by the children in the art class I was teaching several years ago. One student, in particular, had a love for Peregrine falcons. Once the falcon was in my head, this scene of it in protection mode over an Alice in Wonderland type woman came to me. Sometimes, what I set out to create is not what I end up with. I believe that once the creation process starts, it goes where it needs to go. I love working in pastel, so I felt this was the perfect medium to capture the falcon's face, and the details in the fabrics as well as the clothing. After I completed this piece, I felt it would look best in a child's room offering visual comfort, and a bond to nature.
Here, you can see the falcon has made its presence known in the art.

About The Artwork

I will awake sometimes thinking of an animal. And it's not from a dream or anything. It's just in my head. One morning it was a lemur, inspiring five pastel paintings featuring lemurs. Often inspiration for a painting comes from listening and observing. Falcons were discussed by the children in the art class I was teaching several years ago. One student, in particular, had a love for Peregrine falcons. Once the falcon was in my head, this scene of it in protection mode over an Alice in Wonderland type female came to me. This art is already framed.

My love for fashion has been part of my life from a very young age. I love nothing more than drawing the female form in fashion that I envision as well as those that are inspired by clothing designers. Eyes are the window of the soul and each face I create is like creating someone new filled with emotion that I hope connects with the viewer. They are not alive, yet to me in a way they are. I didn't teach myself to draw, I always just knew how to draw from how I see the world as well as from my visual memory. I also create art that focuses on the bond we share with animals in a variety of mediums- pastel, watercolor on paper, and acrylic on canvas. Many times my work will be created using mixed media.
