About The Artwork

'The earth erupts in powdery puffs under every footfall. Each step is an effort, both feet are laden with lead. The city’s sandblasted adobe comes into focus, like another termite mound, its darkened windows squinting against the sun.' Purchase a limited edition print from the award-winning book. Written and illustrated by Lachlan Plain, The Lost Journals of Pedro Piscator and other tales is an eclectic illustrated collection of tall tales from across the globe and throughout the ages. 'This is a self portrait, (with a few wrinkles added). The structure burning in the background is a tribute to one of my favourite sculptors, Jon Davis, being one of his sculptures. This image is a composite of five separate scans.' Lachlan Plain. This 64.4 x 43.2cm artwork is a limited edition Giclee Archival Print made by master printmaker, Brian Gilkes of Pharos Editions. Since childhood Lachlan has lived in other worlds, on different plains, navigating them via several mediums – performance, painting and the written word. He won the 2012 Impress Prize for his first book, 'The Lost Journals of Pedro Piscator and other tales'. He has taken part in several solo and group exhibitions, as well as creating murals and sculpture for public spaces and commercial outlets. He is artistic director of Sanctum Theatre, a visual performance company presenting folk theatre in everyday spaces since 2006. He has also worked for the Snuff Puppets for the past few years, an irreverent and scatological giant puppet company, performing in their shows and directing their People Puppet Projects in Australia, Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, Thailand and Chile.
